Are You A Disciple?

ARE YOU A DISCIPLE?

John 13:34-35

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

There is no other way to demonstrate that you are a disciple of Christ than the love that is genuinely expressed from your heart. There is no other law and no other commandment, it all comes down to love. All that God gave to mankind is love and the Spirit to help us love; nothing else.

Christ did not die to raise religious men and women but spiritual people who understands the will of the Father through His Spirit. You can’t be a disciple if you can’t express love to anyone. The condition of your heart defines the spirit that dwells in you. We are filled with either virtue or iniquity. Moreover, virtue is a well from the spring of love. Love shows in your voice, your demeanour, and every detail of your actions. Love is an expression of the heart. The deep roots of a good character is love.

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.”

— 1 Cor. 13:4-7

What is your heart expressing? What are you believing or following? Are you bitter, critical about people and selfish? Are you kind, generous, empathetic and gracious? Allow the nature of Christ to fill you up completely. Walk in the Spirit of Christ.

I pray for you:

That you find rest in stress

Peace in tumult,

Grace in distress,

Healing in affliction,

& Comfort in rejection.

May you have a heart like His that despises no man but prays for all men. A heart that dislikes no man but shares love with all men irrespective of their opinions, race, ethnicity or religion.

May your countenance preach peace and love. Amen
